Unhealthy Habits Cannot Be MEME-ofied

Regrets are to be eliminated and not to be disguised, and social media often helps our minds to do either of the two. The choice is in our hands Feeling obese? You are just one meme away to cover your regrets under laughter and to harm your body under ignorance. Modern problems require modern solutions but the solutions should not be a problem on their own. Let’s face the truth. Eating unhealthy, cheating on commitments, living an unhealthy lifestyle is not funny.

Cultivating healthy habits and maintaining them reduces all the stress and fatigue of our daily lives. Depression can never be a trend and considering it to be a trend is the biggest harm one can do to their mental health. Lying around in couches and eating anything and everything you crave just because the others do so is just a mark of immaturity.

Adolescents and memes have a great connection. On one side where memes help to present serious topics and thoughts with a touch of irony, they also present reluctance with a funny tinge. Nowadays our minds are greatly influenced by social media. More than peer pressure, social media talks are taken seriously by our minds to be a part of society. To gain acceptance. From labeling procrastination, negative thoughts and addictions as COOL, to making fun of punctuality, discipline, determination, it has basically shaped the minds of most of the people.

On opening social media one can see many posts, memes, and songs promoting the consumption of weed, alcohol, and cigarettes amongst people, especially teenagers. Addictions are one’s own choice but its effects are known to all and teenage is a period where one can either build proper health or break it at once. However, the middle age groups also get attracted to such posts and often choose to opt for the addictions as it provides them relaxation from the daily monotonous life. It's easy to get, easy to consume but not easy for our body. Posts of awareness are often seemingly boring for the social media new age and are ignored quite often.

Another common meme topic is being a couch potato and being proud of it. Lying on the couch with food and cold drinks and watching web series till your eyes pain and burn. It's cool. It's us. It's relatable. But it's not something one should be happy about. Less sleep does not only harm our eyes but also our immune system. It doesn’t allow our minds to be fresh and often leads to depression. It reduces efficiency and our ability to be productive. Things may seem cool until they turn out to the reason behind our mind's and body’s downfall

You are always allowed to HAHA react on the posts but not in your life. This quarantine, get up and take the first step towards a healthier life. Let the regrets be at bay, without any chaotic cover hiding it. The patience which we scroll our newsfeed lets learns to have the same patience and take deep breaths to let the negative things flow out of our lives. The fluency with which we type a paragraph lets cultivate the same fluency and activeness in our body by starting with basic, minimum exercises and yoga. The creativity with which we make fun of our unhealthy lifestyle lets use the same creativity to make our quarantine fun by adding new, relaxing and different elements to our lifestyle. For example – take care of your body, light some incense sticks to fill your home with positive and fragrant vibes, text yourself (talk to yourself in the mirror or in a diary about your insecurities and thoughts). Doing these activities will also allow you to laugh at the unhealthy lifestyle memes but not with your regrets hidden but vanished as a whole.
