Please ask these 5 MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONS, before making a treadmill purchase decision:

PowerMax Fitness offers a choice of 33 different options, from user-weights ranging from 90kg to 200k kg; manual to fully automated, motorized; MRP ranges from Rs.21,700/- to Rs.1,74,000/-.

PowerMax Fitness offers FREE-delivery-and-installation across India. 'Installation' is a critical issue that most online sellers do not offer and even if they do, customers end up with dissatisfaction.

PowerMax (India) has a country-wide network of servicing personnel that ensures that our customers get efficient onsite after-sales-repair-and-maintenance service in the fastest possible time. Unlike others, to ensure speed and quality of doorstep delivery, PowerMax does not outsource its after-sales service to any third party. The company manages this aspect centrally and for the entire country. We are not dependent on franchisees, contractors, or shop owners for after-sales service. Our company personnel covers the entire country, even the remotest village where we have our product.

Spares - the key issue in quick-repair-service
PowerMax is the only company in the Indian fitness-equipment industry that invests in an adequate stock of spares. We never run out of essential spares that are required to get our treadmills up and running, if an issue arises, in the fastest possible time. When most major players have an average 2-months-downtime i.e. they take 2 months to replace the part that has malfunctioned in your treadmill you bought from them (putting you off exercising for that time), our average downtime is 5 days i.e. we take 5 days from the time you call with your problem and we set it right, with a replaced part. If in case, your treadmill does not require any replacement of parts but only servicing, the downtime comes down to 48 hours.

All PowerMax treadmills come with a 1 to 5 years onsite warranty. We give 3 Years Motor Warranty against 1 Year Motor Warranty given by most of the other brands.

The need to enforce a warranty arises when the treadmill malfunctions during the warranty period. Brands that offer average options manage to do so, by compromising on product quality. Typical compromises are made in the quality and thickness of used belts; the quality and thickness of running boards; the quality of steel in the rollers and the power of the motor, most of which you would not even notice when buying. You may find other brands with slightly-lower prices, without the specification of major details which should be upfront with the customers. And when the issue starts to arise, which invariably does, they might not be able to give the right support.

At PowerMax, our approach is to use such quality material in our treadmills that our customers do not face machine breakdowns and therefore the need to resort to their warranties.

For example, the quality of the material and the thickness of belts used in all our treadmills are good to sustain normal home use for 3-4 years. The running board is made out of high-quality MDF particles with adequate thickness to sustain the specified maximum user weight without cracking or breaking down. The motors are made of high-grade Copper that ensures higher output at lesser power consumption and lesser wear-and-tear. The rollers are made of high-grade steel and are precision-machined to keep the belt centered to reduce maintenance and noise.

PowerMax comes to you with international quality that an American brand would never compromise on. And supports you with world-class after-sales service. Our after-sales-service department is ready to help you and our typical response time from customer call to maintenance engineer at the doorstep is 48 hours maximum.

What do Powermax Treadmill model numbers actually mean?

Powermax Treadmill model numbers use codes to describe the Key Treadmill features. Once familiar with the codes you can learn a lot about a particular Treadmill just from glancing at its model code.Powermax Treadmill model number has a name that consisted of three letters and a 3 or 4 digit number to it. This makes identifying Treadmills rather easily, as both the letters and the numbers actually stood for something. For example, the numbers always translated into the User weight, and Motor size.

Example: In Treadmill Model TDA330
The first digit 300 - stands for user weight of 130Kg
Second digit 30 - stands for the motor size of 3 HP Continuous motor.

Treadmill Buying Guide: Choose the Right Treadmill for You

Treadmills (often referred to as running machines) are pieces of cardio equipment used for running, jogging or walking whilst remaining in one place. A treadmill provides a moving platform by means of a running deck and belt. The belt is powered by an electric motor and moves from the front to the rear, allowing the person to walk opposite to the direction of the belt.  Manufacturers are continually reducing their manufacturing costs. This means you can now purchase a reliable home use treadmill for under INR 85000 and a cheap budget one for under INR45000!
In India, we have unpredictable weather patterns throughout the year and as winter approaches there are fewer hours of daylight.
Because of this walking, jogging and running outside can prove to be difficult. However, with treadmills, you can walk, jog or run in the safety and comfort of your own home, rain or shine, day or night!

The fitness benefits of using a treadmill

  1. Less impact on joints - Running on a treadmill reduces the impact on your joints compared to running on pavements or road surfaces. To further reduce the impact purchase a machine with an orthopedic belt.
  2. Reduces stress - During cardio exercise endorphins are released into your bloodstream. This release of endorphins produces a natural high, which in turn relieves stress.
  3. Increases energy levels - Exercise of any kind will increase your energy levels and be running is one of the best forms of exercise to help increase your overall energy.
  4. Increases lung capacity - Long distance running will help improve your lung capacity, making you stronger and healthier.
  5. Increase bone density - The impact of running on a treadmill overloads the selected structure and causes the body to increase the density of weight-bearing bones in an effort to accommodate the stress of the activity.
  6. Increased calorie burn - Because running is a weight-bearing exercise it burns more calories in comparison to rowing machines or exercise bikes.

Different treadmill types

  1. Folding Treadmills - If you are short on space a folding treadmill is an answer. Make sure if folds easy, it's stable and has a high maximum user weight.
  2. Non-Folding Treadmills - If you have the space a non-folding treadmill is ideal. Non-folding treadmills tend to be slightly more stable compared to folding models.
  3. Commercial Treadmills - Commercial treadmills are suited for a commercial environment such as a health club or gym, they are designed for heavy usage throughout their lifetime, which is why you will find such good warranties on commercial treadmills.

Whether it's a Motorised Treadmill a Manual Treadmill a Foldable Treadmill or a Non-Folding Treadmill it's important to choose the Right Treadmill
If you decide to buy and use a treadmill, it could be one of the wisest health decisions you could make. Treadmills, particularly motorized treadmills are easy to use fitness machines, they will improve your cardiovascular system and they provide the ideal way to burn calories and help with weight management. If you are a runner then its all well and good taking a run during the warm summer evenings but what happens when the winter snow, rain and dark evenings arrive? Well, that's easy, you pull down your foldable treadmill from the cupboard under the stairs, plug it in and start jogging and the whole family can use it as well.

But buyers beware!
There are more treadmills on the market than any other kind of fitness equipment leaving you the consumer with a mind-boggling choice. This is a mixed blessing. There is now a good range of quality treadmills to choose from but there are many more treadmills out there that you should think very carefully about before spending your hard earned cash.

Consider the following.
A good motor fitted to a quality treadmill will have a trade price of INR42000 plus. Yet there are cheap treadmills on the market selling for this price. To be fair even the cheapest treadmills will offer something to those on a tight budget but be warned, they may come with problems. Some of these machines have been designed to last not much more than 6months because they think that people will not be using them for much longer than that. It sounds unbelievable but true. A lot of these fitness machines are sold on the web. They are bought over by the container from the Far East. The website sells them off offering all kinds of guarantees that a few months down the line the website disappears leaving you the consumer with no redress. So if you see a very low priced treadmill its a case of buyer beware.

The following tips will help you maximize your investment, prevent you falling into any traps and also help you reach your desired goals

Buying your Treadmill

  1. Consider who will be using the treadmill and what their specific goals are.
It is often the case that there will be more than one person in the family who will be using the treadmill. Discussing each person’s goals will help make sure that you purchase workout equipment that will withstand the use of multiple family members and provide the adjustments to accommodate different size users. For example, going for the cheapest option or buying a low quality underpowered motorized treadmill is a common mistake, but one that can cause considerable problems, particularly if it is being used by both a 57 and a 107 Kg person. Also, will the treadmill grow with you? In a very short time with regular use, you will find your fitness improving and as it does so you will need more from your treadmill. Will it be able to accommodate this?
  2. Go to a specialist fitness store and test the treadmill.
A specialist fitness equipment store should be able to offer a range of treadmills for you to try. They will also be able to show you how to use the treadmill properly and provide installation as well as show you how to do routine maintenance. Then test the exercise equipment yourself. Almost any treadmill will feel and seem adequate if you just walk on it for a couple of minutes. It's only when you begin to put the treadmill through its paces by jogging or running on it, adding elevation and using different programmes will you start to see and feel the major difference in quality and comfort, even vibration and noise. When you go to the store wear appropriate clothing so you can test the gym equipment properly. A good treadmill is a major investment. Take your time.
  3. Location & Space.
Consider where you are going to site your treadmill. There is no problem with putting a treadmill upstairs as long as you appreciate that someone running hard on it will cause some noise and vibration below. A garage is fine as long as it's not damp, which would affect the electronics. Conservatories are popular, but if its south facing it may get hot. If you have a gym room on the ground floor, which is something that is growing in popularity then you have the perfect solution. Space should not be too much of a problem today now that there is such a large range of folding treadmills available. Don't forget that a motorized treadmill is an electric treadmill and will, therefore, require power from an electric socket.

Features

Easily Navigable Console
When you look at the treadmill console does it make sense? Do you intuitively know how the buttons work? Is the screen large enough and the workout information easy to read? The salesperson will show you the basics but when you get the treadmill home they will not be there to guide you, so make sure you feel comfortable that you will be able to use the console with ease.

Cushioned Deck
This is a major selling point for all treadmills now, but not all cushioning systems are the same. The ideal absorption system should be one that feels firm and stable when you run yet still forgiving. It should not feel soft and spongy and slap back at you. This kind of cushioning could cause knee injuries over time and also wear out quickly. Good quality treadmills from respected manufacturers provide cushioning that is researched based and can show evidence of why their system works. There should be a methodology in the system other than simply putting in rubber spacers or dampeners. Some treadmills now come with orthopedic belts, which subtly enhance the cushioning further. The only way you can be sure you like the feel of the cushioning is to test the treadmill. Remember anything that will make your workout more comfortable will result in you sticking with it and achieving your desired goals.

Adequate Motor
This is where the confusion really starts. Don't be fooled by the bigger is always better rhetoric. There is more to a treadmill motor than its size. What you should look for is a continuous duty HP motor (continuous duty is a measure of horsepower under regular anticipated use and is far more meaningful than peak horsepower). In reality, 2.0HP and above should be sufficient for any user as long as the rest of the motorized treadmills components are of a high quality. For example, a good cooling mechanism will reduce the heat generated by the motor and other major components, prolonging their life and reducing wear on these parts. A large motor with a poor cooling system is not a good combination as this will result in premature wear and poor performance. However, a superior cooling system and quality electronics do not come cheap and this is why there is such a disparity in the price of motorized treadmills. Try not to focus on just the big or quiet motor, instead look at the treadmill as a whole system, with matching components that work together. It is this that makes the difference between a bog-standard cheap treadmill and a quality treadmill.

Console Feedback
An array of feedback features is available on most motorized treadmills. It is tempting to buy one with everything but before you do, consider what is important to you and the other users of the treadmill and how you will use it. You will certainly need the basic information such as speed, distance, elevation and time. You then need to look for features that will motivate and challenge you such as pace and heart rate. If you get bored easily it may be worth investing money in a treadmill that has a range of different workout programmes, as this will help you stay motivated.

Folding Mechanism
Folding treadmills use one or two hydraulic pistons to assist with the lifting and lowering of the running deck. Make sure the piston is good quality and does the job. The majority of foldable treadmills have what some brands call a ‘softdrop’ mechanism. This lets the running deck drop slowly and gently without any intervention from you. It was designed to prevent injury to young children who may have accidentally released the treadmill from its raised locking position. These work very well but again the quality of the piston is crucial. The locking device differs considerably from brand to brand. Some have a simple release handle conveniently positioned at shoulder height, others have a pivoting plate at the bottom of the treadmill that you have to push down with your foot and others have an annoying leaver type piston combined support that you have to pull apart. They all work adequately but some are just easier to use.
We are often asked if foldable treadmills are less stable than a platform (non-folding) treadmill. Years ago folding treadmills were very unstable compared with a platform treadmill and cheap treadmills still are today. But buy a quality folder and you will be hard pressed to feel the difference.

Belt

The belt should be long enough and wide enough to accommodate your running style, if you plan to do a lot of running then look for a belt with a width of 500mm (20") and a length of 1400mm (55").

Speed
The maximum speeds will vary between models. Mid-range and commercial treadmills have maximum speeds of 20kph (12mph). To give you an idea of speed, world-class runners run at an average speed of 20kph during a marathon!

Incline (Elevation)
If you plan to do a lot of uphill walking or running then look for a treadmill with an incline of 10%. Thankfully most mid-range treadmills incline to 10% (some incline to 12%).

Maximum user weights
Always check the maximum user weight before you purchase. Budget running machines usually have maximum user weights of around 100kg whilst mid-range treadmills have maximum user weights of around 130kg.
Accessories
You can purchase many accessories. At Powermax Fitness Superstore we offer accessories such as Floor protector Mats, Extended treadmill warranties, Heart Rate Monitors and much more.

Remember the must-haves when buying a Treadmill

  1. Easy to read and easy to use treadmill console
  2. Cushioned Deck
  3. Programmes and features on the treadmill that are meaningful to you
  4. An adequate continuous duty HP motor, 2HP or above is best

Safety and Maintenance
Running and walking on a moving piece of exercise equipment is very effective and simple, but for the raw beginner, it can also feel unsafe and fraught with quality issues if you don’t choose wisely.

Safety Features
Look for an emergency stop button on the treadmill that is easy to see and accessible, no matter what speed or incline you are running at. There should also be a safety tether key. This is a key that plugs into the treadmill console and has a cord that runs from it that attaches to your clothing. If this key is pulled out the treadmill will automatically stop. Therefore if you fall or faint then the treadmill will not continue running which could cause serious injury. A tether key is ideal for a beginner. Has the treadmill got heart rate features, feedback, and interactivity? All these help towards a safe and effective workout. Make sure the treadmill has handrails that are comfortable to hold but are not intrusive. Can you run or walk without your hands or arms hitting them? Testing in store for several minutes will help decide this. Finally, the belt speed should rise and fall in gradual increments, guaranteeing you are always in control. When buying fitness equipment, gym equipment or any type of workout equipment safety must always be a priority

Maintenance

A treadmill will always require a little maintenance after all a treadmill is a mechanical and electronic piece of moving exercise equipment. However, on a quality treadmill, the maintenance should be minimal. Once set up you should not be centering the belt or lubricating the running deck after every workout. A well- designed unit should take in normal wear and tear. Ask the salesman what is required. Some treadmills have reversible running decks. This means that if normal wear and tear take its course on the running surface the deck can be flipped over, basically doubling the life of the running deck. This is something that can be done by a competent owner but it is always worth asking the store what they will charge to do it professionally. If you have bought quality, professional gym equipment then it may be worth paying that extra to get a professional to look after it. However, on a quality treadmill, this is something that will not be required for many years.

Warranty
Today treadmill warranties are almost used as a marketing tool. Companies now compete to offer longer and more comprehensive warranties. This is all well and good as long as the manufacturer is still in business in 10 years time. At a minimum, the treadmill should have a 3-year motor warranty, 1-year electronics, and 1-2 year labor cover. As with everything else and this is probably more so with a treadmill, you get what you pay for. A treadmill has to take an enormous amount of punishment compared to other fitness equipment. For anyone who has regularly visited a health club, they have probably found that the one piece of equipment that is out of order more than any other is the treadmill. Therefore the better the quality the less likely you will need to use your warranty. Finally Equally as important, do the dealers from whom you are purchasing the exercise equipment, have their own service staff that is trained and authorized by the manufacturer to service your fitness equipment. At Powermax Fitness we have our own dedicated service engineers who have years of experience.

Treadmill - FAQ

While the treadmill is running, there is a certain inertia force in it. Hence, in case of a sudden power cut, the treadmill will take a few seconds to come to a complete stop. This is as per safety norms wherein the treadmill should stop instantly within a few seconds and not continue running so it causes no harm to the user.

Green Motor or Energy efficient motors use less electricity as they have better design and use high quality materials to reduce motor losses therefore improving motor efficiency. The improved design results in less heat dissipation and reduced noise output and last longer than other motors of same size. For example motor used in TDA350 has a efficiency of 87%. This means 87% of electrical input energy is converted into 87% of mechanical energy. The rest of 13% of the electrical energy is converted into heat which is seen with rise in motor temperature.

Brushless DC motors (BLDC) do not use brushes and comprises a rotor in style of a permanent magnet that rotates. While conventional dc motor use brushes to deliver current through the commutator into the coils and also the coil rotates.
Advantage?
BLDC has a long operating life because of below 2 points. One big advantage of BLDC motors is high efficiency as these motors can control continuously at maximum rotational force (torque). The second big advantage is controllability, BLDC motors can be controlled, using feedback mechanisms, to deliver precisely the desired torque and rotation speed which helps in reduces energy consumption and heat generation.

All Powermax Treadmill needs 230V single phase ac power supply to run the treadmill. There is a convertor in treadmill which converts input ac power to dc power as motor inside the treadmill works at 180V DC. Now lets assume you have Powermax Treadmill model TD-N1 which use 1hp (745Watts) dc motor. 745 Watt motor means it will run at its rated speed when it consumes 745 Watt , that means the rated current of the motor is (745/180)= 4.13 A , so to run the motor you will have to ensure that the battery is capable of supplying that much amount of current or the current capacity of the battery should be atleast 4.13A. So if the capacity of battery is less than the rated current of the motor , motor will not run properly it will get less current since battery itself is not able to supply that much amount of current. Say If you have 12 Volt 6 A battery (6Ah) , than you should connect 15 such batteries (15X12 =180V) in series so that Voltage is 180 V. So 15 such batteries connected will run your 1Hp (745watts) motor treadmill for one hour minimum. So the invertor you have selected should provide 230V ac with 6A output as its maximum nominal output current.

Rigid Shock absorption treadmills help avoids impulse jerks which will affect your knee joints. So it’s important to have Proper cushioning shock absorption, which helps to reduce stress and injury on knee Joints.
For Example, TDM-150 Dual Spring Shock absorption system with comfort tech- 6 point grade damping system reduces stress on joints

It depends on the model of treadmill being used as in some models an alert would pop up when treadmill needs lubrication like treadmill model TDA150 and more.
In case of other models follow the below recommendation based on usage:

Recommendation:

Light Use (less than 3 hours per week): lubrication every 6 months.
Medium Use (4-7 hours per week): lubrication every 3 months.
Heavy Use (more than 7 hours per week): lubrication every 1 month.
Or put your hand underneath the treadmill belt and feel along the running deck, as close to the center of the deck as you can. See If you feel any dampness. If you hand feel dry then lubrication is needed.

Auto Lubrication means silicon oil which automatically spreads be-neath the running belt based on how much the treadmill has run. Once cumulative operating mileage is reached the system will au-tomatically add an appropriate amount of silicone oil to the treadmill and reset and restart the cumulative mileage counter.
Lubricating your treadmill belt can keep vital treadmill parts like the deck, belt, motor and motor controller from prematurely wearing out. It can also help your treadmill run more quietly and reduce friction between the belt and the treadmill deck and hence increases overall treadmill life.
For Example, Powermax TDM 150 has an Auto Lubrication system. Silicon Oil has to be filled in the inlet container provided within the treadmill and the rest is done automatically.

Powermax provides an On-site warranty as below.

Yes, Powermax delivers treadmills to all pin codes in India.

Let's consider your ( maximum user weight at home) weight is 100Kg.
- If you want to use Treadmill just for Brisk walking then you can buy a Treadmill as per maximum user weight published by treadmill manufacturer. For example, you can buy TD-M3 or TD-M4 which has a maximum user weight of 100Kg.
- If you want to use a treadmill for jogging then you need to buy a Treadmill with your user weight +10 Kg. Considering your body weight of 100Kg you need a treadmill with a minimum of 110Kg of Maximum user weight. For Example, you can buy any model from TDM99 onward.
- If you want to use Treadmill for Running then you need to buy a Treadmill with your user weight + 25Kg. Considering your body weight of 95Kg you will need a treadmill with a minimum of 120Kg Max.user weight.
For example, you can buy Model TDM -150 which has a maximum user weight of 120kg.

Most of the metro cities in India do not need a stabilizer due to a stable power supply. However, the other parts of the country where a lot of Voltage fluctuation are seen, Stabilizer are needed. This Voltage fluctuation damages the electronic parts in the tread-mill and using stabilizer is recommended as it will safeguard the electronic parts of the treadmill.
Powermax recommends Vosta-V3 stabilizer

All Powermax Home use treadmills come with 5 Amp Plug and hence need 5AMp socket. There is no special wiring needed.

All Powermax treadmill models work on a single phase 230V input supply.

Some models come 80-95% preassembled and it's quite easy to do the installation by yourself. If you need help you can call +91-8080-269-269 or follow the installation guide provided on youtube for each of the models. https://www.youtube.com/user/powermaxfitness Onsite free installation support is available for various models.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
The advantage of Dc motor is that it’s less noisy and consumes less power as compared to ac motor. The disadvantage is it can be used continuously for 45-50 minutes before it needs rest for 20 minutes, unlike ac motor which can be used continuously. However normally one would not use more than 50 minutes for each session.

The motor is considered the Heart (Important part) of the treadmill as it operates the entire mechanism of the treadmill and is respon-sible for how much user-weight the treadmill can carry. Secondly, as the motor consumes a lot of electricity its quite important to have a green, efficient motor made of 100% electrolytic copper so that electricity consumption is low Therefore right motor and user weight matters. As the motor is one of the expensive parts of the treadmill you should prefer to have 3 years of Motor warranty for your uninterrupted fitness goal.

The inclination is like climbing a Mountain. Inclination is important if your fitness goal is to lose weight faster. For Example, TDM-150 has a 3 level manual incline and Model TDA-150 has the motorized auto inclination.

DC motor treadmill can be continuously used for 40-50 minutes based on user body weight. After that, it needs 20 minutes of rest and then again be used for 40-50 minutes In the case of the treadmill with AC motor, it can be used continuously.

It depends on the size (HP rating) of the motor used in the treadmill and the maximum body user weight of the user in Kg who would be using the treadmill.
For example, let us assume you are using 3.0HP motor Treadmill (say Model TDA350) which has maximum user weight (load) of 120Kg and assuming your body weight is 120Kg and you are run-ning at full speed (18Km/hr) for one hour. In this case, the standard power consumption calculation is as below.

Now 1 HP (Horse Power) = 746 watts
So 3 HP = 3*746 watts = 2238 watts
1 unit of Power Consumed = 1 kWh= 1000 Watts used for one hour.
So, in the above case as you run for one hour it consumes
2238/1000= 2.238 units of power.
Generally, units of electricity consumed are lower than above as actual load (user weight), speed and duration at which treadmill is used are less.
You can consider one unit of power consumed for one hour of treadmill use.
The above is the standard calculation but the quality of motor used plays a very important role in electricity consumption. If the motor used has 100% electrolytic copper and is a green, efficient motor than it uses less current and hence less power.

Height is very important as tall human beings need longer running surface in a treadmill for a comfortable and smooth stride.
For Example: For a person with 5.7 Ft’ height– running surface of minimum 48 inches in Length & 16 inches in width is idle.
For a 6 feet person, ideal running surface should be minimum 54 inches in Length x 19- 20 inches in width
Example for 5ft .7 inch Person – TDM-150 Length - 49.6 x Width - 17.7 inch & for 6 Ft person- TDA 330- Length 54 X Width 20 inches.
